The LegalShield story began in 1969 when our founder, Harland Stonecipher, found himself hospitalized after a specialized accident he didn't cause. Despite not being at fault, the legal fees to clear his name drained his savings. He realized that the justice system was often out of reach for everyday people.
Determined to change this, he founded the Sportsman's Motor Club in 1972, which would eventually become Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., and later, LegalShield. Today, we continue his mission: making high-quality legal protection affordable and accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy.
